Janet Long is no delinquent tax collector. For 33 years, she has been dutiful to the responsibilities of this role, among the many other bookkeeping jobs she held in her long and colorful life. As a tax collector, she didn’t cut anyone any slack, yet she had a knack for remaining a highly trusted public servant—and remains one to this day as church treasurer, avid bridge partner, bibliophile, and loyal friend.

In June, folks came out from all corners of the community to wish Janet a happy retirement – from her delinquent tax collector job only. There is still a lot to do if you are Janet Long.
