Greetings from the organ bench, piano and harpsichord.

I am delighted to announce some very special music provided by several guest musicians who are generously willing to share their musical talents and enhance our music ministry.

My beloved younger sister, Hollie Parker Winzenread (yes, there really is a village in Switzerland called Winzenread) will be providing both flute and vocal selections in June and July. Hollie has recently retired from 30 years in health care and now splits her time between her home here on Lake Eden and San Jose, CA. As a person of deep faith, she often performs vocal and flute selections for her church in California, and recently was the featured flutist in a Bach Brandenburg Concerto in California.

I am also pleased to announce that our Early Music Group is back up and running after a hiatus of several months. Gina Jenkins and Sonia Dunbar on recorders, Tom Anastasio on gamba and Hal on harpsichord will bring back “harpsichord Sunday” as it is known, usually the last Sunday of every month.

Here’s a look at what is coming up:

June 20th– for the Prelude, Hollie will perform the Adagio movement from JS Bach’s Sonata 7 in Eflat Major with piano accompaniment. For the anthem she will sing “Be Not Afraid” by Craig Courtney with text based on Isaiah 43:1-4.

June 27th – The Early Music Group will provide both the Prelude and Postlude featuring selections from Sonata in B Major by Francisco Jose De Castro, an early Spanish Baroque composer. Hollie will sing “Make Me a Channel of Your Peace” by Sebastian Temple with Hal at the piano for the anthem.

July 4th – On this patriotic communion Sunday, the anthem will be a special flute and voice arrangement of “America the Beautiful” featuring Hollie and Hal ( or H and H as we are often called in our family!).

July 25th – The Early Music Group will return performing the Prelude and Postlude. Music by composer Giuseppi Sammartini ( 1693-1770) will include selections from his Sonata 2 in F Major.

I am grateful to all our guest musicians joining us this summer and their willingness to share their musical gifts to help continue our mission of Serving God Through Music.
